How group launches work
Friends pay into one pool through a link, and the pool buys in Block-0 with you.
In a group launch, you and your friends buy your token together. Everyone pays into one pool through a link. When the token is created, the pool buys in the same block, Block-0, so nobody buys ahead of the group, you included. Every sell is paid out by share, straight to each member's own wallet.

The life of a group
- Open. You set the rules in Launch settings and open the group. This creates its link.
- Raise. Friends open the link, give a return address and send SOL to a deposit address of their own. See Join a group.
- Lock. The raise ends, it is full, or you lock it once the minimum is in. Each deposit moves into the group's pool. From now on, each member's share is fixed: what they put in, out of the whole pool.
- Launch. The pool funds the launch wallets, and you launch within the time you set. Every buy happens in Block-0.
- Sell and pay out. Each sell is paid out by share to the members' return addresses right after it.
If the raise ends under the minimum, too few people joined, you don't launch in time, or you cancel the group, everyone gets their SOL back automatically, to their return address.
What you see on the group
The badge next to Group shows where it is.
| Badge | What it means |
|---|---|
| Raising | Members can join, pay in and leave. |
| Locked, launch within | The pool is in. A countdown shows the time left to launch. |
| Live | The token trades. The group sells from its panel on the live page. |
| Paid out | Everything is sold and paid out. |
| Cancelled | Every deposit went back to its return address. |
Who sells
You pick one of two ways when you open the group. It cannot change later.
- Sell together: you sell for everyone, and each sell is paid out by share. After a time you set (24 hours by default), members can also sell their own share.
- Each their own: every member sells their own share, when they like.
Where the money is
Members' SOL never goes through your funding wallet.
- Each member has a deposit address of their own, until the group locks.
- At lock, each deposit moves into the group's pool, a wallet of its own.
- The pool funds the launch wallets. Your dev wallet creates the token and makes no buy.
- After each sell, the SOL goes back to the pool, and the pool pays it out to the return addresses.
What members can lose
Every group launch keeps the same rules, listed under Rules when you open it:
- No dev buy. You put money in as a member, like everyone else.
- Every buy is in Block-0.
- Each wallet buys at most 2% of supply (up to 5% if you set it higher), and the group buys at most 71.4% of supply in all, so outside buyers always have room.
- Members pay in SOL and get SOL back.
So if the group sold right after launch, members would get back what they put in, less pump.fun's fees, about 3%. After that, the price moves with the market. Like any token, it can fall.
An example
Five members are in a group with a raise of 5 to 12 SOL, at most 2 SOL per member, and a dev cut of 2%.
| Member | Sent | Counts | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| You | 1 SOL | 1 SOL | 18.9% |
| Sam | 1 SOL | 1 SOL | 18.9% |
| Mia | 2.18 SOL | 2 SOL | 37.7% |
| Leo | 0.8 SOL | 0.8 SOL | 15.1% |
| Ava | 0.5 SOL | 0.5 SOL | 9.4% |
The pool is 5.3 SOL. Mia's extra 0.18 SOL goes back to their return address at lock.
Later, the group's sells bring in 7.95 SOL in all. Mia's part is 37.7% of it, 3 SOL. Mia's profit is 1 SOL, so the dev's 2% cut is 0.02 SOL, and Mia receives 2.98 SOL. On a loss, the dev takes nothing. The fees on each sell are on Fees.
A group takes real money from other people. Open one only with people you know, and tell them the token can lose value.
